Five In Hospital After Accidents
Five persons were admitted to hospital and six were treated for injuries as a result of accidents during the week-end.
Two persons were admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital late last night with head injuries suffered when the car in which they were travelling went over a bank near Akaroa earlier in the evening. They were Mr Ralph Wilkinson, of 206 Brougham street. Sydenham, and Miss Denise Brickell, of 6 Andover street, Merivale The condition of both was satisfactory last night. Man and Wife Hurt.— The Rev. Donald McLachlan, of 82 Roker street, suffered head injuries and his wife, Elizabeth McLachlan, suffered chest and leg injuries and shock when two cars collided at the corner of Tuam and Colombo streets about 8.40 p.m. yesterday. They were treated at the Christchurch Hospital. Three Persons Injured.— When two cars collided at the corner of Gloucester and Bar badoes streets about 2.55 p.m. yesterday, three persons were injured. Elizabeth Ross, of Woodbury, Geraldine, suffered leg injuries; Kim Delaney, of 25 Digby place, suffered head and chest injuries: and Hugh James Carrington, of 92A Middlepark road, suffered chest injuries. They were treated at the Christchurch Hospital. Head and Leg Injuries.— When a motor-cycle and a car collided at the corner of Waltham road and Brougham
street about 7.45 p.m. on Saturday. David Malcolm Burt, of 10 Huntsbury avenue, suffered head and leg injuries. He was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital. Head Injuries.—Henry John Franklin, of 312 Hills road, suffered head injuries when the cycle he was riding collided with the back of a car reversing on Hills road near the intersection of Dudley street. Mr Franklin was being attacked by a small dog at the time. He was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital. His cycle was badly damaged.
Motor-Cyclist Hurt.—Leg injuries were suffered by Philip Stanley Holmes, of 181 Peterborough street, when a motor-cycle and car collided at the corner of Colombo street and Oxford terrace about 8 p.m. on Saturday. He was treated at the Christchurch Hospital. Cars Badly Damaged.—Two cars were extensively damaged when they collided at the corner of Moorhouse avenue and Montreal street about 9.50 a.m. on Saturday. They were driven by Kevin Hay, of 15 Threadneedle street, Greymouth, and Wilhemina Wood, of 21 Cottrell street. Two passengers in Mr Hay’s car suffered minor injuries.
Fell From Car.—Raymond Hawke, of 89 Grange street, was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital suffering from head injuries after he fqll from a parked car in Grange street, about 7.40 p.m. on Saturday.
