Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 4 A new customs and immi-l gration procedure to speed ] disembarkation, tried for the] first time in New Zealand on ] the liner Rangitane yesterday, worked very well, the Collec- ] tor of Customs at Wellington ] (Mr M. T. Leech) said today ] Under the system, passengers on being cleared receive] special passes for leaving the] ship.
“By the time the ship was berthed we had had about 150 people waiting to go ashore.” he said, “and the only snag was delay in getting the gangway in position.”
