Tax Evader Fined £90

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 1. A naturopath, Peter Gordon Shrives, owed the Inland Revenue Department £5600 in tax arrears, counsel for the department, Mr G. V. Hubble, told Mr McAstley, S.M., today. Shrives pleaded guilty to six charges of failing to furnish tax returns, and was fined £9O. Mr Hubble said that since 1958 Shrives had failed to furnish tax returns. He had already paid back £6OO of this amount, and was paying the department £2O each week. The department regarded the case as serious.
