BLOOD SERVICE

831 Pints Given Last Month

Eight hundred and thirtyone pints of blood was received by the North Canterbury Blood Transfusion Service last month, including 58 pints from donors new to the service. Most of the blood was given at the Blood Bank rooms at the Christchurch Hospital, the only contribution to the mobile unit during the month being when 57 pints was given at Darfield on May 13. In May, 1964, 925 pints of blood was received, including 200 at the mobile unit. Blood issued during the month to hospitals in North Canterbury totalled 670 pints, including 251 pints to the Christchurch Hospital and 291 pints to the Princess Margaret Hospital. The issue in May, 1964, was 566 pints, including 189 pints to the Christchurch Hospital and 240 pints to the Princess Margaret Hospital.
