PROTECTION BY POLICE

Former Typist In Parliament (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, June 1. The New South Wales Commissioner of Police, Mr Norman Allan, said today that a former Parliament house typist, Miss Elizabeth Shepherd, would be given maximum police protection. Miss Shepherd, aged 36, told police she was attacked by a prowler outside her home last night. Her solicitor, Mr P. Veron, today asked police to post a 24-hour guard outside Miss Shepherd’s home. Mr Allan said he would confer with the Criminal Investigation Branch chief, Detective Superintendent A. E. Windsor, later today to work out the format of the protection. Distressed and shaken by last night’s attack —the second in four days—Miss Shepherd said she would go into hiding.
