RAPANUI SCOUTS
Presentation Of Awards Sixty-five representatives of scout groups from Rapanui attended the district association annual meeting at Holy Trinity schoolroom, Winchester street. Lyttelton, m Monday. XJie guest of honour, Mr N. E Kirk. M.P., suggested that a new approach would be needed to attract adult public support for youth movements with the impact of television I and the resulting change of living habits. The Canterbury area commissioner (Mr R. J. Moore) made the following presentations on behalf of the Chief Scout of New Zealand (Sir Bernard Fergusson): Chief scout's commendation to Mr L. J. M. Manson, chairman of the Redcliffs scout committee, then chairman of the Rapanui association covering a period of 15 years altogether: Mrs T. M. Pascoe, a committee member of Lyttelton sea scout group for a considerable period and who is an active worker in district association committee affairs: and Mr J. C. Bradley, the secretary of the Diamond Harbour sea scout group since its foundation. Scouts from Diamond Harbour sea scout group, G. Camfield and P. Hadfield, pre- - sented a thanks badge to Mr John Gill for services rendered to the troop as a boat instructor and supervisor. Mr H. E. Collins, the district commissioner, announced that the Mako Mako patrol of Mount Pleasant had won the wooden woggles made and presented by Mr W. C. D. | Glasgow for the best book of i leaves and bark collected by! a patrol from the troops ofj the district. At a suitable occasion Mr Glasgow will make the presentation personally to the patrol at Mount Pleasant. The scarf woggles have been turned from kauri, totara and silver birch. The following officers were elected: patron, Mr F. G. Pettit; acting chairman-trea-surer. Mr L. J. M. Manson; secretary, Mr A. E. Lavell; committee, Mesdames C. A. Pascoe. G. M. Hay, Messrs R. Mackenzie. N. A. J. Oakley, J. Priddy; district commissioner. Mr H. E. Collins: assistant district commissioner. Mr D. B. Collins: district cub master. Mr T. J. Crocker: group scoutmasters. Messrs J. Dawson, E. J. Rippon and J. Gardner.
