Leases Of Board Land
All industrial tenants who had been granted leases of board land in the Johns road-Ashby road area had approval under the Waimairi County Council’s zoning requirements, the secretary (Mr W. W. Brough) told the North Canterbury Catchment Board yesterday. He was replying to a question by Mr A. T. Bell, who asked if recommendations by the reserves committee that leases be granted to Selwyn Casewood (McVicar) Ltd., and Scotts Engineering Co., Ltd. (the latter adjacent to a sand-blasting and metal spraying firm) complied with zoning.
Mr H. Connor suggested that the board should inspect the development An application from Canterbury Timber Distributors, Ltd., for renewal of its lease was deferred by the board until zoning was approved by the council.
Complaint*.—People were still dumping rubbish into the river at the Selwyn Huts, and some of the speedboat warning notices put up at the request of the Marine Department had been torn down, Mr A. T. Bell told a meeting of the North Canterbury Catchment Board yesterday.
