AUCKLAND, May 28.
One of Britain’s newest life peers, Lord Brown, on a flying business trip to New Zealand, said in Auckland tonight: “If I had to choose a new country in which to live it would be this one.”
An industrialist and supporter of the Labour Party. Lord Brown, who received his life peerage in December, was last in New Zealand three years ago.
“It is a grand country with a splendid climate, wonderful people, and lots of space and potential for development,” he said. Formerly Mr Wilfred Brown, he is chairman of Glacier Metals, Ltd., whose associate company is Glacier Bearings (New Zealand), Ltd., of Mount Wellington. His company has subsidiaries and licencees in 20 countries and his present trip includes Japan and Australia.
