BIG SHARK CAUGHT

Fishermen’s Battle (N.Z. Press Association) DARGAVILLE, May 24. Six fishermen won a 20minute battle with a 13001 b shark in the Kaiapara harbour yesterday. They managed to get the shark alongside their launch and killed it with a shotgun. The party, Ken, Basil and Edsel Weber, their father, Bruno Weber, and two trends, Ivan Mockett and Jim Hamlin, all of Hukatere, had had a successful morning’s fishing when the shark started to attack their fishing lines. With a large snapper as bait, they hooked the shark and as they said later, “the fun started.”

The Weber family landed a 12001 b shark off Pouto last year.
