No road accidents were reported to the police in Christchurch yesterday, the St. John ambulances were not called out. and nobody injured in a road accident was admitted to or treated at the Christchurch Hospital. Police, ambulance drivers, and hospital orderlies could not recall any other accidentfree day in Christchurch this year.
City Council traffic officers attended a “very, very minor” collision between two cars at the corner of Barbadoes street and Ferry road at 5.15 p.m. “It has been an exceptionally quiet day—and nobody hurt at all. It’s the accidents which cause injury that are the big worry.” a traffic officer said last night. Big Ship Launched.—The biggest ship built in Scandinavia—the 98,000-ton (deadweight) Bergepilot was launched in Stavanger this week-end by the Rosenberg shipyard for a Norwegian company.—(Stavanger, West Norway.
