Sharp Drop In Cheque <X.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) SYDNEY. May 14. A 22 per cent drop in Australia’s wool cheque for the 40 months to April is shown if. figures released today. The cheque for the period fell by £88.2m to £303.4m. The figures announced by the National Council of Woolselling Brokers showed that receipts for April slumped from £30.3m in April last year to £9.7m. Depressed Market Contributing factors were a depressed market and a smaller quantity of wool sold. Quantity sold so far was 4.608.979 bales, a drop of 218.182. while the average price was 59.21 d lb compared with the previous 71.68 d. Figures for greasy wool included in these details are: 4.054.708 bales sold for £302.472,889 at an average of 59.17 d.
