Wahines Gather For Hui

A large number of Wahines and friends, presided over by the newly-installed Chief Wahine, Mrs S. Sarginson, attended the opening hui of the 1965 season, held in Begg’s Concert Hall recently. A lively programme included songs by the club choir, conducted by Mrs E. Pickles and accompanied by Mrs M. Mason, an instrumental trio, Romola Griffiths, Marjory Chapman and Mabel Mason, a group of songs by Mrs Nance Mason, and an amusing sketch by Mesdames Belle Sharp, May Hutton and Noel Inns. By special request Mrs Nola Hamilton sang two traditional numbers, accompanied by Mrs Doris Blyth. The guest speaker for the evening, Mrs B. Elliot, described her recent sojourn in Mexico and showed coloured slides.

A young couple’s wedding gifts were stolen while they were being married at the Sydney suburb of Crow’s Nest last night.
