N.Z. Horses Dominate

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) ADELAIDE.

The New Zealand bred filly, Te Parae, the top price yearling filly at last year’s Trentham sales and a winner in Adelaide and Melbourne, was beaten by another New Zea-land-bred galloper, Glensharold, in the £3OOO Sires Produce Stakes at the Cheltenham meeting here on Saturday. Te Parae, a daughter of the imported sire Agricola, finished fast, but was unable to make up the ground lost at the start. Glensharold, a Faux Tirage colt, comfortably withstood the challenge. New Zealand-bred runners finished first and second in another of the major races on the card, the Carnival Handicap of a mile and a half. The winner was Sir Wynyard, with Lapland, one of Gabador’s progeny, finishing second. Sir Wynward, by Summertime, is now an even firmer favourite for the two mile Adelaide Cup, run on May 12, than he was before.
