Prebbleton Birthday
The Prebbleton C.W.I. celebrated its 33rd birthday in the public hall recently. The president, Mrs H. Olaughton welcomed members of neighbouring institutes and friends. The programme consisted of “a flower-market scene” presented by members and brackets of songs by a group of children. Mrs E. Gallagher was pianist. The birthday cake was made and donated by Mrs W. Hopley, and iced by Mrs H. Widdowson. It was cut by Mrs A. M. Riches and Canterbury East Federation president, Mrs L. Millar a foundation member, and Mrs A. Gallagher, oldest member. Competition prizes won during the year were presented by Mrs Riches as follows: Cup for most points, Mrs R. Malins: cut blooms, Mrs R. Malins; shrubs, Mrs W. Hopley; decorative, Mrs R. Malins; cooking, Mrs A. Busch and Mrs W. Hopley; sewing, Mrs K. Neale; most entries not winning a section prize, Mrs D. Morris.
