AWAPUNI SUCCESS

Double At Blenheim (From Our Own Reporter) BLENHEIM. AWapunl trainers saddled the successful combination in the on-course double at Blenheim on Saturday. Sir Loin, a member of A. S. Kayes’ team, and the each-way favourite, came out best in a tight finish to the Waterlea high-weight. The second leg. the Pollard Improvers’ Handicap, went to Royal Admiral, which is prepared by E. Temperton. The holders of 379 5s tickets received a dividend of £ll 15s for £l. Sir Loin shared the third line with Te Manihera to the halfmile in the Waterlea Highweight, was equal second into the straight, caught King Panair near the furlong, and ran it out best to win by a long neck. Te Manihera, after receiving the run of the race, fought on well to beat Cinnaman, by a neck. Royal Admiral was responsible for much of the pacemaking in the Pollard Improvers’ Handicap. He led by a length at the furlong, but Tumble made a solid run in the middle of the track to finish only a long neck back. Nice Peter, which shared the 16ad early, was third threequarters of a length back. Then there was half a length to Cumberland.
