Smith Leads Scoring In Men's Basketball

A LTHOUGH only five rounds have been played in the Canterbury A grade men’s basketball competition, five players have already passed the half century in individual points scoring—a rate which is considerably faster than it has been in recent seasons. And it is perhaps worthy of note that all five are accomplished players with many seasons of A grade experience behind them. Heading the select band is the former Canterbury captain, W. E. Smith (University B), who is again playing in Canterbury after a

year in Auckland. He is the only player to have reached the 60-point milestone. The two Burnham players, C. P. Dyson and D. A. de Felice, with personal tallies of 56 and 55 respectively, are next in line. Other players to have reached the half-century are R. Zachariassen (University B), who has scored 53, and C. M. Harley (Y-Boys), who has compiled 50.
