TROTTING Password-Donald Dundee For On-Course Double

Password, a four-year-old from Belfast, and Donald Dundee, a three-year-old from Edendale, could form the winning on-course doubles combination at Forbury Park tomorrow night. The form shown by both horses at their most recent starts entitles them to favouritism in their respective races.

Password is in the Domain Handicap, which will 'be run over 13 furlongs and 108 yards. At his last start he came home strongly from well back for third behind La Garrison and Caledonian Scott over 13 furlongs at Addington Raceway on Easter Saturday. That was Password’s best effort for some time and if he reproduces that run, he should go close to winning.

Loyal Hanover paced a splendid race for a close fourth in La Garrison’s race

on April 17. This field does not look to be quite so strong and he could finish closer up. Heriot made most of the pace in the same race at Addington and tired a shade over the last few yards to finish fifth. He had to work fairly hard to get clear after four furlongs and he was far from disgraced. He seldom paces a bad race and must be given serious consideration.

Cuddle Doon and Toll Booth, which looks better placed than he has been for some time, appeal most of the Canterbury horses in the race, while the best of their southern rivals may be form runners in Dorothy Jean and Southern Rev.

Donald Dundee, one of the top-ranked pacers of his age this season, will no doubt be a firm favourite for the second leg, the two-mile Forbury Handicap. He has not raced since he gave Cloudy Bay a start of 12 yards and ran him to a length and a half at Forbury Park on February 27.

Since then Cloudy Bay has had three wins and one plac-

ing from seven starts. Donald Dundee was to have started at Gore last week, but he was scratched when the track became soft. He should manage the distance quite comfortably and should win. Next Day, another Southland contender, has shown splendid form this season, especially over a distance. If she begins cleanly, she could make Donald Dundee work hard for his win.

Pop’s Donation was second to Dorothy Jean at Omakau last time out, following on some most consistent racing. She is overdue for a win and she could upset calculations in this race.

Black Tryax, Friendly Tom, Evening Twilight, Paranova and Seafield Scott are others capable of adding interest to the finish.

The T.A.B. double will be run on the Winter Handicap and the Flying Handicap, Junior Royal and Peerswick forming a likely combination. The weather has been unsettled in Dunedin, but prospects are fair for tomorrow night when the track could provide fast footing.

Plane for Forbury.—Seats available on chartered aircraft to Forbury Park meeting tomorrow night. Leaves 3 p.m., returns 12.30 a.m. Ring Dan Doyle, 39-758.—Advt.
