PLUNKET ACTIVITIES
BURNHAM The Burnham sub-branch of the Plunket Society donated £2O to the Karitane Hospital, and committee members picked violets for Violet Day last year. This was reported at the recent annual meeting of the sub-branch. Members had raised £l2O from sales of work and £27 from selling rags.
Officers elected were: patrons, Mesdames E. Scott and T. Tyson; president, Mrs M. E. Winchester; vice-presidents, Mesdames G. Braybrooke and J. Pitt; secretary-treasurer, Mrs W. Fox; committee, Mesdames A. H. Millar, G. Rumo, J. Webb, C. Mulcahy, K. Sloane, S. H. Perrot. Curtis, A. Musher, and E. BojessenTrepko. SOUTHBRIDGE A comprehensive review of the activities for the year was given by the secretary (Mrs R. J. McMahon) at the annual meeting of the Southbridge sub-branch of the Plunket Society. She referred to the work of the nurse. Sister Smith, and welcomed her successor, Sister Henderson. An additional donation of £2O had been sent to Karitane Hospital. The retiring president (Mrs T. T. McMillan) was thanked for her leadership over the last two years and was presented with a sheaf of flowers. As guest speaker, Mrs C. L. Dobbs spoke about a new branch of education to be introduced in schools by the Justice Department and Marriage Guidance Council, the theme being relationships and marriage.
