Obituary

MR A. L. CHAPPELL (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINTON, April 29. The death of Mr A. L. Chappell, a well-known retired journalist and sports administrator, occurred in Wellington Hospital this week. He was 78. He began journalism in New Plymouth where he was also closely associated with the administrative side of boxing. From 1914 until it ceased publication in 1935, he was on the staff of the “Christchurch Sun.” He became chief reporter and then for manv years sports editor. He was a chairman of the Canterbury Amateur Athletics' Association. Later he was for a number of years on the staff of the “New Zealand Free Lance.” He is survived by two sons.
