Second Bid Of 35s A Share (N.Z. Press Association! WELLINGTON, April 29. Tasman Forests, Nelson, has received a second notice of a take-over bid. The latest offer, according to the notice, is 35s cash a share. Directors are required by the Companies Amendment Act, 1963, to issue a statement to shareholders which will include their recommendations immediately after an offer is made to shareholders. The first offer, made last week, was for 32s cash a share. In neither case has the name of the company making the bid been disclosed. General Motors Profit Record (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) DETROIT, April 29. General Motors today announced a record profit of 636 m dollars (£22Bm) in the first three months of 1965. It is the biggest first quarter profit ever made by an American company. A company report said the organisation employed 737,963 workers around the world. The payroll for the three months was 1300 m dollars (£465m).
