Colour Is Outstanding Feature Of Pinex House Display
Christchurch people will have the opportunity over the next 10 days to see a house, covering 1500 square feet, erected inside a hall—but it is certainly a house with a difference.
It is one which attractively reveals in a confined area all the surprising and colourful possibilities of Pinex Wallboards.
When a visitor steps into the show, the first impression is one of colour.
Everything in view (except the furnishings) are products of the mills of New Zealand Forest Products, Ltd.
Overhead, the ceilings are of attractively coloured and designed Pinex Wallboards, and underfoot the flooring is also
a specially prepared hardboard. The architraves of the doors and the skirting boards are also from the mill, but it is the general ap-
pearance which makes one realise the potential which this type of lining offers. The wallboards manufactured by the company comprise a complete range for use in residential, commercial. industrial and farm construction and these are divided into two main groups. The judicious use of the planks, panels and acoustic tiles make a most attractive interior lining, for they provide the opportunity of making designs with neat and unusual joining due to the tongue and grooving which ensures perfect matching and give a wide choice of five Decotex colours. Sound Reduced Because of these heat-in-sulating and sound-absorb-ing qualities, they save on the first cost of construction and also on maintenance cost through their reduction of fuel requirements of up to 40 per cent. The sound reduction can reach 60 per cent by the use of these wallboards. A feature of the material is that it is easy to work, less expensive than plastic, as durable as any other material and particularly easy for the “do-it-yourself” handyman f o handle. Costs are reduced by the fact that the insulating planks, panels and tiles are available pre-painted. The pre-finished hardboards include the very attractive leatherboard. Cedrela board (with its impressed pattern), Hammerglaze and Vitroglaze. ■ The two latter are displayed as ideal bathroom linings, but their use is not restricted to this part of a home. Dream Bathroom It is not generally realised that the company, with its oil-tempered hardboard, has now provided a building material for exteriors and floors and ceilings where there is excessive moisture. Thus, a dream bathroom comes within reach of all; and this is clearly evidenced
by the bathroom which greets the visitor to this unusual home in the Art Gallery. There is no doubt that with Pinex Wallboards any home can be made excitingly different; and if used at the outset, it can save money for the home builder. At the sann time it solves the triple problem of insulation. lining and decoration.
