NEW OFFICE SUGGESTED
Over-crowding Reported Extra office accommodation was needed by the North Canterbury Hospital Board, partly because of the several new staff members who had had to be engaged to deal with the nurses' new pay system, the secretary (Mr J. G. Laurenson) said yesterday at a meeting of the board. He would like to see the medical superintendent-in-chief. matron-in-chief, and secretary housed in adjacent offices in one building—a building close to the main hospital, but not part of it. “There is not a great deal of time to spare in arranging for further office accommodation for our clerical staff, as our existing building is rapidly becoming seriously overcrowded,” Mr Laurenson added. The chairman of the works committee (Mr L. A. Bennett) said the board would have to consider whether it was best to build a new wing on the present building, or to put up a new building. To some extent, the decision would depend on what happened to the Oxford terrace-Antigua street intersection.
