Asking For Cup Change

“The Press' 1 Special Service WELLINGTON, April 28 The New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association has appealed to the Lawn Tennis Association of Australia to have the New Zealand-West Indies first-round Davis Cup tie held after and not before Wimbledon. The N.Z.L.T.A. has received advice from the United States association, which controls the dates for the American zone, that it wanted the tie played before the Wimbledon tournament. As I. S. Crookenden, one of the New Zealand players, will not be available until after Wimbledon, the N.Z.L.T.A has appealed to Australia—which, as holders of the cup has the final say—to have the tie played after Wimbledon.
