Store Gutted At Gisborne
(N.Z. Press Association) GISBORNE. April 28. Damage estimated at £30,000 was caused by fire which destroyed the contents of Nicols Transport, Ltd.’s bulk store in Gisborne last night. Two-thirds of the large front partition was “a ball of flame” when the brigade arrived. Within 15 minutes the firemen had the blaze under Control but it was several hours later before they left the scene. Most of the stored goods were damaged. A representative of F. J. Jeune’s Ltd. said his company lost 14 bales of canvas worth £l5OO. Another firm lost 27 bales of paper, valued at £6OO.
