CUT-BACK OF CAPITAL
Aust. Reserves Strained (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) NEW YORK, April 27. American and British cutbacks on capital exports were putting extra strain on Australia’s external reserves at a time when her balance of payments had changed for the worse, Australia’s Secretary of the Treasury (Sir Roland Wilson) said today. Addressing a seminar on Australia sponsored by the Chase Manhattan Bank, Sir Roland Wilson said that the capital cut-back was also providing “headaches" because of the possible effect on the repayments Australia must make on overseas loans over the next few years.
