WEEK-END TOURS

New Trend In League (N Z Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 27. A tour by the New South Wales Country Rugby League team, which will play two matches in New Zealand next month, will be the start of a trend towards “week-end tours" by Australian and New Zealand sides Mr R. E. Knowling, the secretary of the New Zealand Rugby League, said today that next year the winner of the North v. South inter-island \ match would tour Australia) under a similar system, play-) ing matches against Queensland. Mr Knowling said: ‘’This will give Queensland play of international standard to help them prepare for their matches against the touring Great Britain side. “Queensland would return the visit later in the year to help New Zealand sides strengthen their play before the Great Britain side reaches New Zealand." The New South Wales Country team will arrive in New Zealand on May 11 and depart on May 18 after playing Canterbury, at Christchurch on May 15, and Auckland on May 16.
