Speed Limits
Sir, —I agree heartily with your correspondent. Speed limits should be for all, with perhaps the exception of ambulances taking a calculated risk to save a life. While on the subject of speed, is it not foolish for traffic officers to drive at such high speeds to catch an offender? If necessary, for the greatest good of the greatest number let him go. He will err again and be caught more easily. The 90 miles an hour chase of which I read this morning through built-up areas does not make sense.—Yours, etc., CRITICAL. April 27, 1965.
