Six Persons Injured In City Road Accidents
A woman and a child were injured in two accidents in Waltham road within an hour yesterday afternoon. Mrs J. E. Mcllroy, of 222 Wilsons road, suffered head and leg injuries in a collision between two cars at the corner of Waltham road and Rogers street at 5.30 p.m. Mrs Mcllroy was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital and operated on last evening. Her condition was later reported to be satisfactory. She was thrown from her car when a door flew open in the collision. The other car overturned, but no-one else was hurt.
At 4.30 p.m., Angela Goldring. the daughter of Mrs D. [V. Goldring, suffered head and leg injuries when hit by a car near, the corner of Waltham road and Hastings street. She was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital, where her condition last evening was reported to be satisfactory.
At 6.30 p.m., another pedestrian, Mr A. Church, of 27 Euston road, suffered head injuries when hit by a car at the corner of Riccarton road and Matipo street; He was taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital. His condition last evening was reported to be fairly satisfactory. Mr K. Black, of Parsonage road. Woodend, suffered suspected chest injuries and concussion when three cars collided at the corner of Kilmore and Colombo streets at 7.30 p.m. Mr Black was treated at the Christchurch Hospital and discharged. Mr G. W. Didham and Miss J A. Didham, of 174 Shaw avenue, were injured when they fell from a motor-cycle on the New Brighton bridge about 7.31 p.m. Mr Didham was treated at the Christchurch Hospital and discharged. Miss Didham was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital with head injuries. Her condition was later reported to be satisfactory.
