Canterbury Untroubled

Canterbury won the rowing at the universities’ Easter tournament at Corsair Bay on Saturday with 36 points, 12 ahead of Auckland. For the fifth time In succession Canterbury took the eights race, winning by half a length from Auckland, the favourite, with Otago in third place a length away. Canterbury also won the double sculls, the women’s invitation race and the college fours. The Canterbury provincial eight was beaten in its race with New Zealand Universities crews. The N.Z.U. No. 1 crew won by only a canvas from Canterbury. Results were:— Universities Eights (two miles).—Canterbury 1. Auckland 2, Otago 3. Half a length, two lengths. Novice Fours (2000 metres). — Auckland No. 1 1, Canterbury No. 1 2, Otago 3. Three lengths, one length and a half. Single Sculls.—Otago 1, Canterbury 2. Half a length. Women’s Invitation (threequarters of a mile).—Canterbury 1, Otago No. 1 2, Auckland 3. Three lengths, one length. Double Sculls.—Canterbury 1, Otago 2. One length and a half. College Fours. Canterbury No. 4 1, Canterbury No. 1 2, Canterbury No. 2 3. Half a length, one foot. New Zealand Universities v. Canterbury Provincial Eight (2000 metres). —N.Z.U. No. 1 i, Canterbury 2. N.Z.U. No. 2 3. Canvas, two lengths.
