Schoolboys Ate Caustic
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, April 13. Two 10-year-old Titahi Bay boys were rushed to Wellington Hospital yesterday after eating stick caustic at school.
The condition of the boys, David Hunter and Mark Ferguson, both standard 3 pupils, was satisfactory today. The caustic was brought to school by a girl. Thinking it to be a lolly, a number of boys tastid it but spat it out.
David and Mark chewed theirs and swallowed it. About 40 minutes later both suffered severe stomach pains. They were taken to a doctor and after treatment sent to hospital.
