38 WOMEN PLACED
Jobs In Other Factories Late yesterday afternoon 38 women employed by Urlwin Industries, Ltd., had been found jobs, said the actingsecretary of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association (Mr I. D. Howell). The jobs were found for them temporarily in the Christchurch factories and companies of other members of the association. When Urlwin Industries was ready to recommence production, said Mr Howell, the women would return to the employ of that company. Mr Howell said that the association was confident that it would be able by the end of the week to place the remaining 12 women who were without jobs. The association was trying to obtain storage and assembly space for Urlwin Industries. Seven Christchurch manufacturers had offered to make space available. The company would probably work somewhere else temporarily with some of its staff. Mr Howells said. It required space where goods and raw materials coming in could be stored.
