Canterbury trainers and drivers are going to have a busy time in the next few weeks. Quite a sizeable team is going north for the Hawera meeting, which opens on Saturday, and a number of them will remain for other North Island meetings. Canterbury will be strongly represented at the Waikouaiti, Roxburgh and Omakau meetings to be run next Saturday, Monday and Tuesday, with some remaining in the south for the Gore meeting on April 24. R. D. Butt will drive Rainford Boy, Sir Echo, Smog and Bright Enterprise at Waikouaiti. W. R. Butt will travel south to Roxburgh on Sunday, taking Johnny Gee, Admit and Van Rebeck with him. Johnny Gee will race at Roxburgh and Omakau, while the other two will go on to the Gore meeting. T. M. May will drive Terri Lee and Notulas at Waikouaiti, where L. C. May •will drive Waltz Away and Hialea. L. C. May will drive Waltz Away at Roxburgh. J. L. Ferguson will take Moneywise, Chief Smile, Hal Special, Misty Haze and Smokey Dillon south for the first three meetings. Some, of them will also go on to Gore where he will also have Rustic Lad.
P. G. O’Reilly and K. Purdon will both go on the southern circuit.
Killin will be driven by D. M. Alexander at Waikouaiti, but K. D. Murray will travel south to drive her in her other engagements. Murray may also take Dandy Briar south for the Gore meeting. D. J. Townley will be driving at the Roxburgh, Omakau and Gore meetings. He has been engaged for St. Nazaire, First Battle and Legal Gain at Roxburgh, while he may drive Sheridan at Omakau.
C. M. Laing wifi drive Friendly Tom and Melissa at Waikouaiti, while G. A. Laing has been engaged for Say Dianna and War Scene.
T. G. Cavill will drive Felis, J. Grant will drive Snowline and other members of D. G. Jones’s team, and A. C. Arnyes will drive Space Chief at the same meeting.
