SYDNEY, April 13.
An Alitalia DCB Jet became immobilised at the Kingsford Smith airport at Mascot today with a wing trapped between two light poles. The plane had been parked close to the arrivals end of the international terminal. When a 8.0.A.C. Comet parked close behind it blocking any exit backwards from the terminal, the Alitalia plane had to be moved to allow the Comet to leave. A Department of Civil
Aviation official said the wing and tail section became caught between the poles when the Jet was being towed along the tarmac by a motor-tug. Each attempt to manoeuvre the DCB clear put the wing further in between the two poles. Ground staff worked for two hours to free the aircraft before a D.C-A. official ordered one of the poles to be pulled out Airport ground staff said they had never heard of a similar incident The aircraft left for Italy this afternoon.
