Linwood-Avonside Red Cross Activity
Elderly hospital patients and totally disabled servicemen have been visited, cardigans, bed socks and knee rugs knitted, and a special collecorial avenue, Christchurch, party realised £5 for the Cholmondeley Home, says a report from the annual meeting of the Linwood-Avonside sub-centre of the Red Cross Society. Officers elected are: president, Mrs P. Cowper: vicepresidents, Mrs M. I. Browne, Miss W. Robertson; secretarytreasurer, Mrs V. B. McKeague; assistant-secretary, Miss H. Alington; liaison officer, civil defence, Mrs L. Crampton; knitting and sewing supervisor, Mrs M. McKenzie: bring and buy sales, Mrs J. House.
THE BODY of the actress, Linda Darnell, fatally burned in a fire at Illinois, will be cremated today.—(lllinois, April 12.)
