BUCHENWALD MEMORIAL
30,000 From 20 Countries (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) EAST BERLIN, April 11. A bell toiled over the grim parade ground at Buchenwald death camp in Thuringia, East Germany, today—the twentieth anniversary of the freeing of the camp’s emaciated survivors. Wreaths were laid in the 150-foot high bell tower which dominates the countryside. They covered a mound which contains bloodstained soil from other concentration camps and covers scenes of Nazi massacres. Giant torches blazed across the gre?n plain of Thuringia, to which 30,000 people had come from 20 countries to honour the memory of the camp victims.
