MOHI IN TEAM TO PLAY THE REST
M. H. Mohi (Papanui), who has not played any club football this season because of a transfer suspension, has been included in the Canterbury Rugby League team to play The Rest at the Show Grounds on Easter Monday.
Mohi played one representative match last season—the first, against Auckland—and this season the selectors (Messrs R. K. Andrews, D. L. Blanchard and E. Butts) have seen him in action in training sessions.
The withdrawal of J. L. White (Addington), who has been chosen for The Rest, has allowed T. L. Bisman (Papanui) to claim the loose forward position. The team is: P. J. Tongue (Hornby): R. O. Moffat (Hornby), P. V. Smith (Marlst), J. M. Bray (Hornby), C. C. Preece (Sydenham); J. A. Bond (captain. Papanui), R. S. J. Irvine (Marlst); T. L. BUrnan (Papanui); J. A. Flanagan (Linwood), I. T. Drayton (Hornby); M. H. Mohi (Papanui), J. H. Fisher (Addington). E. J. Tavendale (Papanui). Reserves; J. Hawthorne (Papanui). J. Martin (Sydenham), B. T. Barron (Sydenham). D. A. Condick (Hornby). G. H. Turner (Papanui) was not available because of a thumb Injury. Coast Came A Canterbury B team will play West Coast B at Greymouth on June 6. The match was originally set down as a full provincial fixture, but the trial match is to be played at Auck
land the previous day and each province will not be able to Held Its best team.
The New Zealand Council had let the West Coast down. Mr E G. Blazey said, at the meeting of the board of control last evening. Canterbury should still send a team over. "We could still field a good side ' "Not the full Canterbury side.” said Mr R K Andrews “I would prefer it to be a Can terbury B team.” It would have to be a Can terbury B team, otherwise the match would be taken as a South Island trial, Mr Andrews said. It would also have to be played for the Anisy Shield Mr Blazey then moved that Canterbury send over its best available team, but stipulated that it played under the title of Canterbury B and that no trophies be at stake. It will not be possible to send a Canterbury B team to play in the Manawatu this season. Transfers W. C. McKay was conditionally granted a transfer from the Griffith Warraths Club In the Riverina (Australian) district to play for Christchurch Marlst The following club transfers were granted subject to the players standing down for four club playing Saturdays: I. R. Lewis (Sydenham to Christchurch), C. F. Olsen (Halswell to Sydenham), M. P Waihape (Christchurch to Sydenham). B Nepia (Shirley to Addington), and I. J. Winiata (Shirley to Addington).
