Ohio Lectureship For City Minister
The Rev. R. G. Bell, superintendent of the St. Albans Methodist circuit, has been appointed a visiting lecturer at the Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware, Ohio, for the 1965-66 academic year. Mr Bell, who graduated master of arts and bachelor of divinity from the University of New Zealand, and master of theology from the Melbourne College of Divinity. will lecture in the department of religion on Biblical studies, theology, and comparative religion. Mr Bell was a pupil of the old West Christchurch District High School and then of the Auckland Grammar School. He received his theological training at Trinity Methodist College, Auckland, and after the required four years’ probation was ordained in Christchurch in February. 1948. His probation was served at Ngaio (Wellington) and Lyttelton, and since then he has been stationed at Gore, Northland (Wellington), and Feilding. He is in
his third year at St. Albans. He is secretary of the Board of Examiners of the Methodist Church of New Zealand and a member of the Joint Commission on Church
Union which is negotiating a basis of union among the Methodists and four other denominations. After Mr Bell leaves for America towards the end of August, his pulpit at St. Alban’s Church, Rugby street, will be taken by the Rev. H. G. Brown. The Rev. P. D. Ramsay will become acting superintendent of the St. Albans circuit.
