EXTENSION OF CHURCH
Proposal To Buy Property To allow for extensions, the Durham Street Methodist Church proposes to buy a £5300 property next to the parsonage.
| “This may be the last opportunity we have of being able to increase the area of our property.’’ said the minister of the church (the Rev. W. S. Dawson) yesterday, “and future years mav require still further extensions. We must look well ahead.”
The house, on Christ’s College leasehold land, is divided into two flats. The bottom flat is occupied by the custodian.
Through this purchase it will be possible to provide a limited parking area to replace the space which will be used for the new church centre.
The purchase would be financed by borrowing, Mr Dawson said. It was not expected to make a profit from the rental of the top flat, and the repayment of the loan would be left to some future date. The consent of the Church Building and Loan Fund Board was the only requirement for the completion of the purchase.
