TOYS FOR EXPORT
N.Z. Firm’s Plans “The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND, March 29. Australian children will soon be playing with New Zealand-made toys. Mr L. Laidlaw, managing director of Lincoln Industries, Ltd., a major toy manufacturer, said his company would begin exporting to Australia in substantial quantities next month. The move followed an extensive Australian market survey in which the company had found ready wholesale and retail acceptance of its toys. “We have now formed an Australian company—Lincoln International (Australia), Pty., Ltd.—to spearhead a sales drive which will include a £30,000 advertising campaign,” said Mr Laidlaw. Toys will also be exported to Australia from the firm's Hong Kong subsidiary which already sells toys in 18 other countries including Britain, Canada and the United States. The first major toy shipment has already left Hong Kong and the first ship meat from New Zealand will leave Auckland next month. Among the toys to be marketed in Australia are dolls, children's film-strip projectors, plastic construction kit! and a variety of remote control racing cars. An initial production rur on one new toy alone will re present a £35,000 export order for New Zealand.
