Obituary MR T. L. JAMES
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 29. Mr Thomas Leonard James, who was widely known throughout New Zealand for his services to commercial education, died in Wellington on Saturday after a long illness. When Mr James retired from his position as head of the commercial department of Wellington Technical College in 1958, it was said he had done more than any other teacher in New Zealand to further commercial education.
After his retirement, Mr James founded the Commercial Teachers’ Association, of which he became national president and edited its magazine.
He was born in Invercargill in 1897 and attended Otago Boys’ High School.
