The Boot’s Boots Sold
(New Zealand Press Association)
AUCKLAND, March 29. The football boots worn by D. B. Clarke when the All Blacks beat England at Twickenham last year fetched £lll at an auction arranged by the Lions Club at the Morrinsville Hotel on Saturday night.
The bids were £1 a time and each bidder contributed his £1 as soon as he made his offer. The demand for Clarke’s boots was so great that the organisers deemed it prudent to stop the bidding at £lll.
