Transport Plan For Auckland
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 29. The electrification of suburban railways from Papakura to Henderson and an underground line in to Queen street were expected in the De Leuw, Cather and Company transportation report, the Mayor of Auckland (Mr D. M. Robinson) said today.. “Ten years ago these two plans were deferred for 10 years when the 1955 master plan was produced,” he said.
“It’s now 1965 and the time may very well be ripe.” He said he believed the report would suggest up-dating rail services so that they could carry more of the passenger burden.
