YOUNG SURFCASTER HAS GREAT SUCCESS

ROTORUA. R. Craig, aged 20, of Wellington, dominated the surfcasting events at the New Zealand surf, plug and flycasting championships at the week-end. He won five out of six events and bettered the New Zealand record for average distances In each case. He also set records for the longest cast in four of the events. In one contest, the twoounce sinker level-line event, his best cast of 489 feet was only two feet short of the world mark.
Australians won all the flycasting events.
The Victorian caster, J. Close, of Ballarat, set a record for both New Zealand and Australia in scoring 95 points in the skish fly accuracy event. Close also broke the New Zealand record average distance and
longest cast records in the single-handed fly event. The championships will end tomorrow with plug events. Results:—
