‘WELCOME IN N.Z.’
Declined By Australia i (N.Z. Press Assn. — Copyright) SYDNEY, March 29. A Chinese family which was refused permission to migrate to Australia reached Sydney today en route to New Zealand to settle. They said they had little trouble in obtaining visas to live in Auckland. The family comprises Mr Ching Poo Ling, aged 49, a typewriter mechanic, and his wife and four children, all from Hong Kong, who arrived in the Aramac.
Mr Ching said he had tried to come to Australia “but they told me Chinese were not welcome.”
“So I approached New Zealand officials and they told me to submit my immigration application and shortly afterwards I was informed I would be welcome in New Zealand,” he said.
