SANCTION FOR LOAN
Lyttelton Borough To Raise £27,000
The raising of a loan of £27,000 by the Lyttelton Borough Council for the extension of waterworks in the borough has been sanctioned by the Local Authorities Loans Board. Advice of this was received by the council at its meeting last evening.
The loan money will be used to build a new reservoir and to lay water mains. The term is 20 years at an interest rate not exceeding 5} per cent. Rail Service
A suggestion that the railcar which arrives at Christchurch station on Sunday evenings about 11 o’clock could be used to carry passengers on to Lyttelton will be made by the council to the Railways Department. Cr. E. A. Camfield said there had been strong criticism of the cutting of communications with Christchurch on a Sunday evening. This was one step which might help the situation.
