PROBLEMS OF GROWTH SEEN
Community Centre At Sumner
The Sumner Community Centre had passed from infancy to adolescence, said the acting chairman (Mr A. G. Stace) in his report to the annual meeting of the centre last evening. “The teething troubles, are, we hope, past. The centre is now faced with the problem of growing up. It will want to know where it is to go from here and what it is to do. “It was fathered by the community and it is to the community in general that it must look to for guidance and advice. While it would be rash to expect a sudden flowering into full maturity, it can now be assumed that this maturity will be reached and that the centre will eventually become the centre of the Sumner-Redcliffs community,” said Mr Stace. Officers elected Were:—President, Mr W. Glasgow: vicepresident, Mr S. Halton; secretary, Mrs B. Dalmer; treasurer, Mr F. A. Betts; committee, Mrs M. Gibbons, Messrs J. Cameron, A. G. Stace, N. Mason, T. Clews, J. Pasley.
Driver Hurt.—Mr A. C. Porter,, of 12 Griffiths avenue, suffered slight concussion when the car he was driving and another one collided at the corner of Kerrs and Woodham roads about 6.30 p.m. yesterday. He was treated at the Christchurch Hospital and discharged.
