President From Dunedin
Mr G. S. Edgar, of Dunedin, was elected president of the New Zealand division of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries at its annual meeting in Auckland last week. He is the first Dunedin member to hold this office. Ten years ago Mr Edgar became senior partner in James Brown and Company.
and, through this, secretary of the Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen’s Association of Otago. This relationship between the company and the association has been maintained for 74 years. Mr Edgar is a director of several private and public companies. He has served on the executive of the Automobile Association (Otago) for 12 years, for the last five as treasurer.
Mr J. G. Laurenson (Christchurch) and Mr J. G. Mason (Auckland) were elected vicepresidents of the institute. Mr J. L. B. Stevens (Auckland) was re-elected treasurer.
