Indoor Fours To Millar
A. Millar (Linwood avenue) beat L. Cheyne (Winton street), 9-8, in a closely-fought final of the first open tournament held by the Canterbury Indoor Bowls’ Association.
Millar led, 6-0, after the third end and by the sixth end had a lead of, 9-4, but Cheyne, bowling well, reduced the margin to one point in the final end. Quarter-finals.—A. Millar 1, E. G. Smith 3; H. Airey 10, N. Hocking 7: F. Fuller 11, K. White 10; L. Cheyne 9, P. Osborne 1. Semi-finals.—Millar 8, Airey 3; Cheyne 6, Fuller 5. Final.—Millar 9, Cheyne 8. The winning team was Mrs B. Millar, Mrs F. Smith, A. Smith and Millar.
