THE SOLAR SALT WORKS AT LAKE GRASSMERE, MARLBOROUGH.—A recent aerial photograph showing the large area of the concentration ponds. The intake from the sea is near the middle of the coastline in the upper part of the picture. The Main Trunk railway runs in a curve across the foreground, part of the line being on a causeway.
