Forest And Bird Society
Black swans, Canada geese, grey and paradise ducks, bell birds and grey warblers were some of the birds seen at Lake Selfe by members of the Canterbury branch of the Forest and Bird Protection Society during a field day on Saturday.
Lake Selfe, one of a chain of small lakes lying to the north of Lake Coleridge, is an area much favoured by waterfowl.
One hundred and sixty members went to Lake Selfe, and divided into two groups. One group, led by Mr J. W. Harris, secretary of the branch, travelled along the north side of the lake. The other group, led by Mr I. H. Gray, the trip organiser, followed the road on the south bank.
